Mehmet Ersoy was born in March 26, 1964 in Boyabat - Sinop. He completed primary, secondary and high school education in the same county. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences Public Management Department in 1986. He started his post as the District Governor Candidate in Kastamonu, in 1987. He received language and vocational education for one year in the UK during his candidateship.
He served respectively as the Acting District Governor in İzmir-Kemalpaşa and the District Governor of Balıkesir-İvrindi, Konya-Çeltik, Tunceli-Nazımiye. Also, he served as the Deputy Governor in Mardin and the District Governor in Denizli-Buldan, Adana-Kozan, İstanbul-Çatalca and Sarıyer. He was appointed as the Deputy Governor in Bolu for three months due to the Düzce Earthquake while he was the District Governor in Buldan. With the Decree of the Cabinet dated as December 22, 2008, he was appointed as the Governor of Yalova while he was serving as the District Governor of Sarıyer. He was appointed as the President for Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD) in January 2, 2010.
He was elected as the Deputy of Sinop from Justice and Development Party in the general parliamentary elections held in June 12, 2011. During his post, he was assigned as the Vice President of Local Administration in Justice and Development Party Headquarters. He was also a member and Vice President for the Commission for Internal Affairs in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. He served as the member for Turkish Group of PAP and KEIPA. He was elected as the Chairperson of the Commission for Internal Affair for the Term 24th second legislative year.
Mehmet Ersoy was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Family and Social Policy in March 18, 2016.
Appointed as the Deputy Minister of Interior on June 21 2017, Mehmet Ersoy is married with two children. He fluently speaks English.
